Want to take a family vacation to Europe but can’t find affordable flights? Try flying into London, spending the night, and then taking the Eurostar out in the morning. You can sometimes score cheap flights, and even better, you can sometimes skip an overnight on a plane. From St. Pancras Station in London, take the Eurostar direclyt to France, Belgium, or the Netherlands. It’s a great alternative to flying direct to Europe and pretty easy to do.

FRANCE
One of the best ways to see and experience Paris is by walking its streets. That being said, walking for any distance with children can be a challenge. That’s why this Paris walk is the best stroll for the family. Les Berges de Seine follows the beautiful Seine River along a pedestrian-only walkway. You’ll find lots of activities for the kids along the way as you soak in the beauty of Paris.
Visiting D- Day sites in Normandy with kids can be a little difficult to plan but it is absolutely worth it. The fantastic museums, the gorgeous scenery, and the amazing food all add up to a Spring Break to remember.
A Spring Break trip to the battlefields and memorials of the Somme in northern France turned out to be a fun time for everyone and a trip I would recommend to any family.
As one of the most visited cities in the world, navigating the sights of Paris with children in tow requires a bit of strategic planning. Crowds of people and waiting in long lines can be exhausting. Simplify your life with this 7-day Paris With Kids itinerary. Everything you need to know: where to stay, kid-friendly restaurants, and fun activities for the entire family. All organized into day-by-day plans.
Our strategy for a simply awesome family trip to Paris worked beautifully. We were delighted to discover a quiet park or playground in every neighborhood, often right behind a famous landmark that we had just toured.
We watched our daughters play with French children on the playgrounds under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, and even a medieval castle.

Sounds pretty perfect, right? Welcome to the stunning Peloponnese Peninsula.

Athens is a wonderful city that I have been lucky enough to visit multiple times throughout my life. The first was as a backpacking student and I was armed with a less than sufficient amount of knowledge about the city but more than a sufficient amount of beer. Mistakes were made, lessons were learned, and I had a fabulous time. The trips that followed honed my skills and I began to feel pretty comfortable traveling to Athens. The most recent trip, however, involved extended family members and four kids so it was a different ballgame altogether from my previous trips. New mistakes were made and new lessons were learned, but we all still had a fabulous time. These are just 5 of the things I have learned the hard way not to do when visiting Athens:
I was excited about visiting Hydra as soon as I came across a description of it in a guidebook- small, no cars, beautiful, no cars, easily accessible from the mainland, historic architecture, no cars..... I was desperate to go to this non- motorized paradise and made the rest of the family go with me. It did not disappoint. We loved this island.
ICELAND
Dining out in Iceland is notoriously expensive. There’s no getting around it. But we did manage to find several more affordable restaurants that didn’t completely break our trip budget.
All of these restaurants are family-friendly, as budget-friendly as you can find in Reykjavik, and located in the city center.
We did a lot of research on car rentals and read a lot of reviews. Here are our tips for renting a car in Iceland as well as driving tips.
Reykjavic, Iceland’s capital and most populated city, is certainly worth taking a day (or more!) to explore. We spent a day and night here on the way back from our road trip along the south coast of Iceland. Here are some of the highlights to check out during your stay.
This 7 day summer Iceland itinerary gives you all the information you need for your scenic road trip along the southern coast of Iceland. The best sights to visit are detailed along with dining and lodging options at your stops near Vik, Hof, and Reykjavik--all with travel tips learned along the way.
Many visitors traveling along the southern coast of Iceland are so intent and excited to see Iceland’s iconic Jökulsárlón Lagoon that they blow by one of Iceland’s other nearby national treasures, Skaftafell National Park. We found two of the easiest and most spectacular hikes of our trip here. You’ll take one Instagram-worthy photo after another!
Iceland may not be the obvious family vacation choice, but it should be. Known as the "land of fire and ice,” Iceland's breathtaking scenery is largely due to the fact that it is one of the most volcanically active areas on earth. You will see this activity first-hand as you drive along its southern coastline which showcases a constantly changing geography of flat farmlands, mountains, fields of moss-covered lava rocks, black sand beaches, and steaming geothermal pools.

Detailed day by day itineraries are laid out for you to give you an idea of what’s doable in a day with kids, plus lodging suggestions, labeled maps, local restaurant finds, and more. AUSTRALIA
Welcome to our series “A Simply Awesome Day in...” where we share a full day’s excerpt from one of our family vacation destinations. Today, we offer a fun day from our "5 Days in Sydney" Itinerary.
Our goal is to help simplify your trip planning by sharing all the details you need for an enjoyable family vacation.
Who doesn’t want to spend a day of vacation letting the kids play in the sand or climb on an awesome playground while you enjoy the breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour? Throw in two gorgeous and accessible coastal walks, a delicious fish n’ chips picnic, cap it off with a night time ferry ride to admire the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House lit up at night, and you have a pretty perfect day right?
If you are traveling to Australia, there is a good chance the Great Barrier Reef is on your list of things to see. If it is not on your list, then maybe you need to reconsider. If one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World doesn't do it for you, then consider that it may not be around much longer as it is under tremendous stress from warming ocean temperatures. That fact moved it from the "I would like to someday..." to the "Need to do this now..." list for me. (And yes, I get the irony of using huge amounts of fossil fuels to get somewhere to see something that is disappearing because of huge amounts of fossil fuel use.)
Once you decide that the Great Barrier Reef is on your to do list, there a few ways to see it. Most fly to the city of Cairns in northern Queensland as it is very close to the reef, has hundreds of hotels, and a huge tourist industry devoted to Great Barrier Reef excursions. We decided to try something different though and flew to Hamilton Island in the Whitsunday Islands.
CENTRAL AMERICA
If you want to see jaguars and toucans up close, this is the place. Small and personable, this zoo is a combination of wildlife rescue and education center and is well worth a stop on your trip to Belize.
Tikal is bucket list kind of destination and deservedly so. The Mayans built something truly impressive here. Just walking through the paths between the structures is an experience as well because of the diverse wildlife you can see and the dense foliage of the jungle. This summer marked my 3rd trip to Tikal and on each trip I have figured out how to do things a bit better. Many times that has been the hard way. Don't repeat my mistakes.
