Now part of the Urban Wilderness, Ijams has been offering all kinds of outdoor activities for all kinds of ages of Knoxvillians for years. Spend an hour, spend a day with kids young, old, or both-- you won’t be disappointed at Ijams.

Your Guide To Norris Dam State Park

Norris Dam State Park makes for a perfect place to spend a day (or a few days!) with the family. Go explore Norris Lake on a rented pontoon boat or a paddleboard or hike on one of the park’s many trails. Or maybe go fishing, camping, mountain biking, or learn some TVA and Appalachian history at the Dam Visitor Center or the Lenoir Museum. Norris Dam State Park is a fantastic family destination with something for everyone.

And it won’t even take you that long as House Mountain is just 20 minutes from downtown Knoxville.

The Maryville/Alcoa Greenway is a wonderful place to take the family out for a day’s ride. At 9 miles long, you can ride long enough to work up an appetite for some delicious food at one of the many places in either Maryville or Alcoa. Or bring a picnic and hang out in one of the parks along the greenway while the kids explore the fun playgrounds. There is something for everyone and it’s one of our family’s favorite activities!
